This translates into every aspect of life from personal products to food and beverage and yes, to home design. Incorporating this idea into interior design is at the core of touchGOODS’ work. Lighting in and outside of the home has always been a necessity, but have you ever put thought into how to really make it amplify your living spaces? It is something that has been overlooked in interior design for years (not by the pros, of course. Aside from its obvious functional purpose, lighting sets a mood, creates ambiance, and when mixed and matched, can completely transform a space.
Elevate Your Summer Staycation
We’re taking tropical vacations and extended weekends out of town off of our summer calendars this year. With warming temperatures and beach days on the East End of Long Island on the horizon, why not make the backyard or patio your destination? Extend your interiors to the outdoors with thoughtfully designed spaces that make you feel far away without ever having to leave home.
Interior design theories can easily be applied to the exterior. You want a space that is cohesive and inviting, lending itself to the idea of a summer vacation where time simply passes. In this living space, greenery is of course key. We’ll never say no to a good rug to pull a space together, especially outdoors. Use a similar concept you would when designing your living room. Have a focal point with an outdoor coffee table (perhaps add a tabletop planter), add seating and outdoor accents to further design this space. With summer on the East End often associated with entertaining, multipurpose pieces like Kenian’s rattan planter/party bucket is perfect for your gatherings, with 10 people or less, of course.
All you need to add now is some rosé from a local Hamptons or North Fork vineyard, beer from your favorite brewery, produce and provisions from area farms and purveyors, and you have long summer weekends just steps from your door.
